Recovery is a lifelong journey, and Gateway assists all patients during their treatment stay to pack a tool kit and draw a map to keep recovery on track. Twelve Step Facilitation (TSF) is an evidence-based curriculum demonstrated through much research, including the eight-year multi-site Project MATCH post-treatment outcome study, to be effective in significantly reducing subsequent use. The goal of 12 Step Facilitation is simple: Facilitate active involvement in a 12-step fellowship (TSF Manual), exampled by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and others.
As part of the treatment program offered at Gateway, all patients are encouraged to attend twelve-step meetings, onsite and in the community, as a component of the service model. Twelve-Step Facilitation is an internationally utilized clinical curriculum delivered by a counselor which provides education regarding how patients can incorporate 12-step groups into their personal recovery plan, coaching on engagement, as well as exploration of ambivalence and past experience.
