More Americans reported substance abuse and drug overdoses since the outset of the pandemic. Gateway Foundation’s addiction specialists turned to providing virtual counseling sessions to help people who battle drug and alcohol addiction. Now…the organization wants people with substance use disorder to show up in person again for their counseling. “You’re in an environment where staff are available to help and assist you — and that’s one of the great advantages to coming to a residential treatment setting is that you are away from those everyday things that are related to your using patterns”, says Marc Turner of Gateway Foundation.
