Addiction Treatment Programs

Gateway Foundation offers a full continuum of care across a wide range of clinical settings, so no matter where a patient is in life or recovery, we have a program that can be personalized for them. It’s care that stays for life.

RESIDENTIAL

Residential Treatment Centers are available for all patients—men, women or adolescents. With 24/7 support, patients can fully immerse in the recovery process with few distractions for the best outcomes. Length of stay varies based on individual need. After graduating from one of our therapeutic communities, treatment continues at an Outpatient facility best suited to each patient.
Available at Aurora, Carbondale, Caseyville, Chicago Independence, Jacksonville, Lake Villa and Springfield location.

OUTPATIENT

No matter where the recovery journey begins, Outpatient Treatment Centers help minimize the disruption addiction causes in a patient’s life. By participating in treatment without leaving home or work behind, treatment and recovery are less stigmatizing. Outpatient treatment is adapted to your personal, physical, social and mental health needs.
Available at Aurora, Carbondale, Caseyville, Chicago Independence, Chicago River North, Gurnee, Jacksonville, Joliet, Lake Villa Pekin, Springfield and Swansea location.

RECOVERY HOME

Sober living homes are best suited to those seeking transitional housing as they recover from a substance use disorder. Cost-effective, safe, sober and healthy environments provide a place to build strength in a recovery community and establish addiction recovery support groups. Outpatient Treatment is also provided at all Gateway Foundation Recovery Homes, so when it’s time to move forward, the skills and support network remain.
Available at Chicago Independence, Chicago Kedzie and Jacksonville location.

ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT

Recovery is a lifelong process, one that requires continued focus and support. Our Alumni Community provides lifetime support following intensive treatment, including ongoing group and one-on-one counseling, social activities and educational programming to help sustain recovery for life.

Specialized programs:

Rehabilitation For Women

The women’s programs create a feeling of unity among women, allowing each resident to connect with other women who have similar experiences, trials and tribulations. They show each other that their addiction, their trauma and their past do not define them. The women support each other, lift each other up and promote healing for one another.
Available at Carbondale, Caseyville, Chicago Independence, Lake Villa and Springfield location.

Rehabilitation For Men

Our Men’s Programs are focused on helping men understand their unique experiences and substance use in a way that empowers them to regain control of their lives. The comprehensive, evidence-based approach at our mens rehab center locations caters to the specific needs of men with a strong emphasis on relapse prevention and mindfulness skills.

Teenage Rehabilitation Center

Our adolescent substance abuse treatment programs, through our teenage rehabilitation center, allow teens to continue their studies during treatment, so they can maintain grade placement and stay on the path toward success.
Available at Carbondale location.

LGBTQ+ Program

The Out in Recovery program provides LGBTQ+ patients with Gateway Foundation’s trauma-informed and evidence-based substance use disorder treatment services, all tailored to this population in a supportive milieu. In our Out in Recovery substance use recovery program, patients can explore, find, and be their true self in the comfort of supportive staff and peers.
Available at Lake Villa location.

Triumph Professional Program

Many men who are goal and career-driven have lost their way during this process and fall prey to addiction. Realizing that treatment for these individuals can’t happen in a vacuum, we have incorporated time into our patient’s schedules to address outside pressing issues and obligations, and access to computers for career or scholastic focus. This time is utilized within the therapeutic process to address work-life balance, manage pressures, integrate life demands, and apply skills in real-time to better address all aspects of one’s life.

ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT (ACT)

ACT is a form of mindfulness that is beneficial in helping change behaviors and assisting with commitment to positive action.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)

CBT, a well-established practice is interwoven with other evidence-based practices. It focuses on changing destructive or unhealthy behavior patterns.

DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT)

DBT is a skill-based approach to learning effective coping strategies that can be used to address and change unhealthy behaviors.

DUAL DIAGNOSIS TREATMENT

Dual Diagnosis is the treatment of patients who have both a substance use disorder and a mental health diagnosis such as anxiety or depression.

MEDICATION-ASSISTED TREATMENT (MAT)

MAT is using FDA-Approved medications such as Suboxone and Vivitrol to help manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings associated with substance use disorders.

MINDFULNESS-BASED SOBRIETY

Developed at Gateway Foundation, Mindfulness-Based Sobriety is an integrated approach to substance use disorder treatment that focuses on helping patients build the skills to be more present and ultimately create positive change.

MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING (MI)

MI helps patients recognize the need for change and how to move past the physical, psychological and social reasons for substance use. This practice keeps patients accountable to their treatment and recovery.

SEEKING SAFETY

This coping skills therapy is specifically designed for survivors of trauma with substance use disorders. By learning to cope in the present instead of focusing on trauma of the past, survivors of trauma can heal and address substance use at the same time.

12-STEP FACILITATION

12-step facilitation introduces patients to the 12-step framework using therapists instead of the 12-step community. Patients are encouraged to link to an ongoing support network such as AA, NA or SMART Recovery in their own community for long-term support.

Co-Occurring and Dual Diagnosis Services

Dual diagnosis treatment seeks to resolve both addiction and any co-occurring disorders at the same time. This means that addiction doesn’t get 100 percent of the focus during recovery. All too often, clients feel that substance abuse and addiction needs to be the priority. While it should be a priority, treating addiction on its own could end up creating additional problems.

Drug treatment centers focus on the whole person, which means that all aspects of recovery are covered. At Gateway Foundation, that includes medical support. While drug addiction is not just a physical disease, there is no denying that it can impact your physical health.
