Gateway Foundation’s alcohol and drug treatment center in Caseyville is one of the few treatment centers offering detox for pregnant women and additionally includes a women’s trauma unit capable of serving pregnant women. Gateway Foundation Caseyville offers both men’s and women’s intensive substance use disorder treatment programs in a welcoming environment where patients and families are able to attend educational groups, family counseling and learn the “tools for recovery” that will stay with them for life. Gateway Foundation Caseyville offers an array of health-centric accommodations, including a weight room, and outdoor basketball and sand volleyball courts.

Located in a secluded setting and easily accessible via Interstates 64 and 225, Gateway Foundation’s Caseyville location serves patients in St. Louis, southern Illinois and throughout Illinois.

Deacon Farelly, MSW, LCSW


Deacon Farrelly has dedicated his life to helping others, backed by more than three decades of experience with behavioral health and nonprofit work. As a clinician, he specialized in individual, couples’ and family therapy as well as career advising. He also served as a clinical supervisor for adolescent residential treatment. As a leader of both nonprofits and for-profits, he has proven success in building diverse teams and strategic project management. In 2018, Deacon brought his expertise and dedication to Gateway Foundation. In addition, he is a member of the NAMI St. Louis Board of Directors, an organization that strives to improve the quality of life for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and their families. He is inspired every day by patients’ commitment to overcoming their challenges to improve their lives and the lives of their loved ones.

Deacon earned his bachelor’s and master’s in social work from the University of Kansas.

Hetal Amin, MD

Dr. Hetal Amin has more than 20 years of practice experience and specializes in psychiatry and neurology. Dr. Amin joined Gateway Foundation in 2007 as a consulting psychiatrist before becoming the medical director.

Dr. Amin finished his addiction psychiatry fellowship at the University of Connecticut, and during the fellowship, he participated in research on Campral and Vivitrol. Prior to joining Gateway Foundation, he worked as medical director at different community mental health centers in southern Illinois. Over the last 15 years, Dr. Amin has worked with patients with severe co-occurring disorders. Dr. Amin actively participates in local charity clubs and provides volunteer services.

He earned his medical degree from Baroda Medical College.


Caseyville Staff


The Gateway Foundation Caseyville clinical team consists of skilled clinicians with varying years of experience, education and skill sets. The team includes certified alcohol and drug counselors (CADCs), as well as licensed staff such as licensed professional counselors (LPCs), licensed clinical professional counselors (LCPCs) and licensed social workers (LSWs). Key to the team’s effectiveness is communication, they regularly have meetings or clinical staffings to discuss patient care. The staff is trained in evidenced-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Sobriety, Seeking Safety, also known as trauma informed care, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
